Local Development Plan 2: Proposed Plan

The Proposed Plan was approved by the Planning Committee on 19 September 2018 for comments and representations.

The Plan sets out the Council’s strategy, policies and proposals for the use of land within the Council area (with the exception of that part of the authority within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park) for the period up to 2020 and beyond. The Plan’s aim is to create places for people, spaces for investment and destinations to enjoy.

Local Development Plan 2: Proposed Plan Examination

The Proposed Plan was publicised for comments/representations between 12th October and 23rd November 2018. All representations to the Plan have been acknowledged and inform each individual person or organisation of their unique reference number for their representation.

Planning Committee on 22nd May 2019 approved the Council’s responses to the representations received, which were grouped and summarised on an issue by issue basis. The Committee Report, Minutes and responses to the representations can be accessed by clicking on this link:

All unresolved representations and  accompanying documents were formally submitted on 30 May 2019  to the Scottish Government Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) for Examination. Further details of the Development Plan Examination Process can be found by clicking on this link:

Local Development Plan 2: Main Issues Report

The Main Issues Report was the previous stage in the preparation of a new Local Development Plan for West Dunbartonshire. The Main Issues Report set out the main changes and issues that emerged since the Local Development Plan (Proposed Plan) 2016 was approved.

The Main Issues Report was approved by Planning Committee on 26 April 2017 and was consulted upon between 30th June 2017 and 22nd September 2017. The Main Issues Report can be found below:

Development Plan Scheme

The Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement for the new Plan can be viewed here. This sets out what Development Plans cover West Dunbartonshire and the timetable for replacing them. It also sets out how the Council will engage people in the preparation of the Plan.

The time table for the preparation of the Plan is as follows:
