West Dunbartonshire Council is proud to host two race starts as part of the inaugural 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Between 3-13 August 2023, the single biggest cycling event in history is coming to Scotland, bringing together 13 existing UCI World Championship disciplines into one mega event.

And on August 12 and 13, competitors will gather in Balloch for the starting line of the Men’s Under 23 Road Race and Women’s Elite Road Race, including the U23 competitors.

The event will put West Dunbartonshire on a world stage, with an expected 1 million people tuning in worldwide to watch the competition.

Some of the event – including races beginning in Balloch – is free to attend for spectators, giving locals the opportunity to be involved and enjoy watching world class athletes compete in the first-of-its-kind championships.
