The Scottish Government has made the decision to move West Dunbartonshire into COVID protection level 4 from Friday 20 November 2020 at 6pm. The protective measures in this higher level, which are more restrictive, are designed to bring the rate of the transmission of the virus down quickly, so they are intended to be in place for a more limited period of time than the measures in the lower levels.
We are devastated that Level 4 restrictions in West Dunbartonshire will mean the closure of Leisure and Community facilities along with associated services with restrictions due to be lifted from Friday 11 December 2020.
Our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure our facilities are safe venues for our customers to attend however we do understand that reducing the transmission rates within West Dunbartonshire will benefit the whole community in the long run.
We will continue to offer outdoor activities including an enhanced group fitness programme, non contact sporting activities and where appropriate We Do Sport community programmes.
West Dunbartonshire Leisure as a charity is operated to help people lead more active, healthy lives. Every penny we receive from members and customers is reinvested back into our venues and helps to fund the vital services we provide. Shutting our venues and freezing customers' memberships has huge consequences for us and also impacts the health and wellbeing of people in our area.
Many members have expressed that they would be happy to continue to pay a monthly direct debit and support us in these challenging times. We appreciate that not everyone will be in a position to do so, but where you can, this support would be greatly appreciated and will help us to ensure we are in the best position possible to welcome everyone back when the situation improves.
We will continue to offer free online group fitness and exercise sessions via social media and our WDLT App.
Further updates will be communicated in the coming days via our website and social media platforms to inform customers of how we plan to manage these new restrictions.
