West Dunbartonshire Council is currently gathering views on our Main Issues Report, this report is the first stage in development of our LDP. The LDP is a plan for how we use land in West Dunbartonshire and takes into consideration a number of factors including social, economic and environmental impact. The consultation on the Main Issues Report runs until 22 September 2017.
In the past we have consulted with as wide a range of people and organisations as possible, and used a variety of consultation methods. The views that we gather are considered carefully and reflected in the Plan where possible.
We understand how important the place we live in is to all residents and want to make sure our place plan reflects your aspirations and desires for your local community. While we are keen to gather your views on the Main Issues Report we also want to use your feedback to inform our approach to local planning.
This approach is called ‘Your Place, Your Plan’ and brings together key services from the Council and wider community planning partners to support local communities to plan for their local neighbourhood. We are beginning this process by having a series of engagement events in September. These events will have a local focus and will give you the chance to ask any questions you have on plans for your local area, as well as gathering your views what is positive or negative about the place you live in.
This local approach is West Dunbartonshire’s first step in delivering on the national aspiration of bringing development (land use) planning and community planning together to respond to the needs and aspirations of our local communities. West Dunbartonshire Council and Community Planning West Dunbartonshire aim to use Your Place, Your Plan to provide strong and attractive places which support the communities that live in them.
The series of engagement events taking place over September will give an opportunity for residents to give their views on the Main Issues Report as a consultation document, offering an opportunity to shape the future development of West Dunbartonshire. In these events there will be the opportunity to use the Place Standard Tool, which allows everyone to talk about the place that they live in, and we can incorporate these conversations into the consultation process.
The consultation period for the Main Issues Report runs until the 22 September. Further details are available on the New Local Development Plan page.
