To be transparent about public money used for non-domestic rates relief, we will publish information about awarded reliefs on our website. This may include the name of the business or sole trader, property details (including reference numbers), the date the relief was awarded, the type of relief, and the gross and net bill amounts.

We may also use this information internally to improve our services. Sharing and using this data follows our privacy statement and Information Use and Privacy Policy on our website.

Day Nursery Relief

Non Domestic Rates (Day Nursery Relief) (Scotland) Regulations 2018 provides 100% relief from Business Rates used as a day nursery on or after 1 April 2018

Small Business Bonus Relief

The Small Business Bonus Scheme provides relief to businesses with properties in Scotland with a combined rateable value of £35,000 or less.

Empty Property Relief

Premises have to be completely unoccupied to qualify for empty property relief.

Transitional Relief

Transitional relief scheme for Non Domestic Rates for properties which are used mainly or wholly for certain specified purposes

Disabled Persons Relief

Relief of up to 100% is available to establishments where nursing care is provided within terms of the Rating (Disabled Persons) Act 1978.

Mandatory Relief

Charitable organisations are entitled to 80% Mandatory Relief under Section 4(2) and (8) of Local Government (Financial Provision etc.) (Scotland) Act 1962.

Discretionary Relief

Discretionary Relief is available to non-profit making organisations, under Section 4(5) of Local Government (Financial Provision etc.) (Scotland) Act 1962, that do not receive funding to assist with rates costs, from Local or Central Government.

Fresh Start Relief

Fresh Start relief expands by reducing eligibility criteria to 6 months unoccupied prior to new occupation, doubles the relief to 100% for the first 12 months of new occupation and extends the relief to all categories of property with Rateable Value under £65,000.
