Community Planning West Dunbartonshire (CPWD) is the management group for community planning partners in the area. It oversees the delivery of the West Dunbartonshire Plan for Place, which is our Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

The Management Group meets quarterly. It is the final approval and scrutiny body for the partnership. It agrees the joint priorities for community planning and decides what resources are needed to make progress. The group includes key public, private, and community organisations with a West Dunbartonshire interest or responsibility.

Our aim is to make sure that people and communities are involved in decisions about public services that affect them. Organisations also commit to working together to provide better public services.

We make sure activity is coordinated and focused on the benefits of partnership. This includes:

  • realising the added value of working together;
  • supporting new and existing partnerships to deliver outcomes;
  • providing a strategic overview that considers links and dependencies; and
  • reducing the social and financial impact of decisions on other partners.

The CPWD Partnership Agreement explains how the partnership works.

Delivery & Improvement Groups

The five priorities in the West Dunbartonshire Plan for Place are delivered by partnership Delivery & Improvement Groups (DIGs). These groups include key services and agencies who make sure actions happen and improvements are delivered.

Progress is monitored through DIG action plans. Reports are regularly made to CPWD.

The DIGs are:

  • A flourishing West Dunbartonshire
  • An independent West Dunbartonshire
  • A nurtured West Dunbartonshire
  • An empowered West Dunbartonshire
  • A safe West Dunbartonshire

Community Planning West Dunbartonshire aims to improve outcomes for local people and communities. The five DIGs help deliver the priority outcomes. They bring partners together to plan and carry out improvement activities. These are detailed in DIG action plans and reported in regular community planning meetings.

All activity links directly to the West Dunbartonshire Plan for Place. Progress and impact are monitored through our performance management system and reported regularly to Community Planning West Dunbartonshire.

Community Planning Support

Dedicated Officers are in place to help with the community planning process. They support the delivery of the outcomes of Community Planning West Dunbartonshire.
