Pupils and staff at Renton Campus joined Councillors and family members to celebrate the official opening of the new £15.1million building.
As part of the opening ceremony, proud pupils entertained the guests by singing and performing a dance routine around the theme of Building our Future.
Guests were given a tour of the state-of-the-art Primary School, The Leven Base and Early Learning and Childcare Centre which includes modern facilities and terraces for outdoor play and learning on each floor which are accessible from the classrooms. The group heard how children are enjoying using the breakout pods for learning in small groups; the open-plan dining areas and tiered common seating area.
Younger children who attend the ELCC are benefiting from the bright playrooms with floor to ceiling windows and access to a variety of resources to stimulate children's interest and enhance play and learning.
Two rooms on each level of the campus are dedicated to pupils within The Leven Base. Guests also viewed the new multi-use games area (MUGA) sports pitch and extensive playground.
Convener of Educational Services, Councillor Clare Steel said: “I am very proud to officially open this state-of-the-art education campus. The standard and detail of the campus is excellent and has improved the educational opportunities for more than 200 children. It is great to see how proud the pupils are of their new school environment and the benefit they are receiving from getting access to the latest technology and multi-use learning spaces which are fully furnished with modern equipment to promote and encourage our children to take an active role in their learning.”
Vice Convener of Educational Services, Councillor Michelle McGinty, said: “Renton Campus has been built with and for our young people, it’s responsive to their needs and we are very proud that our children will benefit from this investment to our learning estate for years to come. As a Council we are committed to improving the lives of our children and providing them with facilities which will fully support their learning, attainment and achievement, and this campus meets our expectation as a modern, nurturing and welcoming school.”
Laura Mason, Chief Education Officer added: “Renton Campus is the latest school to open in our learning estate and I am so pleased with the positive feedback from our children, young people, parents and carers. This Campus represents our vision that every child should be taught in an environments that are modern and purpose built to fully support the Curriculum for Excellence and to ensure every child attains and achieves their full potential through excellent facilities.”
Following the opening ceremony, guests were invited to tour the campus, providing a glimpse of the impressive educational facilities enjoyed by the young people.
