Residents invited to spend time in nature and boost their own wellbeing
Published 18 November 2025
Residents are being encouraged to connect with nature while improving their wellbeing and local areas through a new partnership the Council has formed with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV).
As part of the Biodiversity Action Team programme, free volunteer sessions will be running every Tuesday and Friday from 10:15am to 2:15pm across The Saltings, Auchnacraig Woodlands, and Faifley Knowes.
Activities include tree planting, wildlife surveys, boardwalk repairs, and habitat restoration which are all designed to support biodiversity while helping participants stay active, learn new skills, and enjoy the outdoors.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “This partnership offers a fantastic opportunity for residents to get involved in meaningful conservation work while boosting their physical and mental wellbeing.
“It is a prime chance to meet people, learn about local wildlife and enjoy time in nature.”
Councillor Lawrence O’Neill, Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, added: “The sessions are open to all and there is no commitment to attend them all, volunteers are free to come along when they can.
“It’s great to spend time in nature and this is an ideal way to do just that.”
