Scotland’s Domestic Abuse and forced marriage helpline

They provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone with experience of domestic abuse or forced marriage, as well as their family members, friends, colleagues, and professionals who support them. The helpline team have a specialist understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and forced marriage, and the options available for support in Scotland. They can also support you if English is not your first language through a confidential telephone interpreting service.

Financially Included – Economic Abuse Helpline

The Financially Included - Economic Abuse confidential helpline is a first step if you’d like to talk about what’s going on and get some clear information and advice. When you call, one of their supportive advice workers will listen, understand your situation, and share helpful guidance.  They will be able to provide advice such as safe bank accounts, coerced debt, access to benefits, child maintenance, accessing grants, and identifying if what you are experiencing is economic abuse. The helpline number is 0343 841 0132 and their opening hours are: Mondays 4.30pm – 7.30pm, Wednesdays 10am – 1pm and Thursdays 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS)

The Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS) is a way to find information about whether a person has an abusive past. This information can be used to prevent someone from experiencing domestic abuse in the future. You can make a DSDAS application if you think you might be at risk of domestic abuse, or if you are worried someone you know might be at risk of domestic abuse. The DSDAS also gives Police Scotland the power to tell people that they may be at risk. When Police Scotland have information that a person may be at harm of domestic abuse by their partner, they can give this information, even if it is not asked for.
