Certificates

You can request a copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate from us by phone or via our online ordering system (please see the apply section for link).

Alternatively you may contact any computerised registration office in Scotland where extracts for any event registered in Scotland can be provided. This is with the exception of any events registered within the last 2 years which have to be purchased from the office where the event was registered.

Fees:

• £15.00 If you need a new certificate of any birth, death, marriage or civil partnership.
  • Made up of a £5.00 search fee plus a £10.00 document fee.
  • If you need more than 1 copy of the same certificate, please note you only pay the £5.00 search fee once.

• If a certificate request cannot be fulfilled a part refund will be given with a £5 search fee retained by the registrar.

Apply

For your convenience you may order your new certificate(s) using the Certificate Order form.  Payment will be taken at the end of the form by credit/debit card.  You can order 1 copy of each certificate type however, if you require more than one certificate for a specific event, please contact us on 01389 738350 (Monday-Friday).  

You can order certificates by telephone, pay the fee by credit/debit card and we will post the certificate(s) and receipts to you. Please call 01389 738350.

You can also obtain copies of these certificates from the National Records of Scotland office in Edinburgh.
