Replacement Certificates

West Dunbartonshire Registrars can now issue replacement birth, death and marriages certificates.  Certificates can be ordered over the phone by calling the office on 01389 738350 (Monday-Friday 9am-4pm).  Payment can be made by a credit or debit card and certificates will be posted.  Please be aware that it may take up to 5 days for your certificate request to be processed and posted.


You can request a copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate from our Registrars Office in Dumbarton or Clydebank.

Alternatively you may go to any computerised registration office in Scotland where extracts for any event registered in Scotland can be provided. This is with the exception of any events registered within the last 12 months which have to be purchased from the office where the event was registered.


  • £15.00 If you need a new certificate of any birth, death, marriage or civil partnership.
    • Made up of a £5.00 search fee plus a £10.00 document fee.
    • If you need more than 1 copy of the same certificate, please note you only pay the £5.00 search fee once.
  • If you have an abbreviated certificate or a damaged certificate at home, please take it with you to the registration office because it will save you paying the £5.00 search fee leaving you only £10.00 to pay. Please note a photocopy is unacceptable for this purpose. 

For your convenience you may order your new certificate(s) by telephone, pay the fee by credit/debit card and we will post the certificate(s) and receipts to you. Please call 01389 738350 or 01389 738351.

You can also obtain copies of these certificates from the National Records of Scotland office in Edinburgh.
