Residents are being encouraged to share their views on libraries as part of a consultation.

The survey is being undertaken to ensure library services can continue to meet the evolving needs of local communities.

It asks questions around how libraries are used, any barriers to access faced, and which services and resources are valued the most.

The feedback received will be used to shape delivery, ensuring that library provision remains inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with community priorities.

The consultation is open now, and will be available for participants for eight weeks, closing on 25 January 2026.

Councillor William Rooney, Convener of Corporate Services, said: "Libraries are at the heart of our communities across West Dunbartonshire, playing a vital role in enhancing residents’ wellbeing by supporting reading, literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural engagement, while also ensuring inclusive digital access and providing welcoming spaces for all.

"As times change, so too does the way residents interact with our library service. This consultation aims to engage with them, understand their evolving needs, and explore how our libraries can continue to make a meaningful difference. Despite the financial challenges facing the Council, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our communities"

Councillor Lawrence O'Neill, Vice Convener, added: "Your views are really important to us, so please take the time to share what matters most to you when considering our library service.

"Your feedback will have an influence in the future direction of the service, including what areas our resources should be focused on."

The survey will take up to 15 minutes to complete depending on the detail participants decide to provide.
