The search is on for West Dunbartonshire’s local heroes as nominations open for the Provost’s Civic Awards.
Provost Karen Murray Conaghan is looking to honour individuals who regularly go the extra mile for their communities.
She will present two awards at the afternoon event, which is due to take place at the Council’s Church Street offices in January.
And residents are encouraged to nominate any person or group they think is deserving of the title of either Community Champion or Citizen of the Year.
To be named Community Champion, an individual or group will have made a difference in their local community, exemplifying community spirit and leading with action to inspire others to get involved.
Citizen of the Year will go to a person or group who has has positively impacted society and made a significant contribution to West Dunbartonshire. As well as demonstrating pride in West Dunbartonshire they will show a genuine commitment to creating lasting change and improving the lives of others.
Provost Murray Conaghan said: “This will be my first Civic Awards since taking on the role of Provost and I’m really excited to have the opportunity to recognise some of the many people who are doing great things in West Dunbartonshire.
“I know of lots of people deserving of praise for the work they do, frequently going above and beyond, and I’m sure there are many more whose efforts fly under the radar.
“That’s why I am relying on you, our local community, to help me shine a light on those people who most deserve recognition, by nominating them for an award.”
The nominees will be invited to celebrate with the Provost at an afternoon tea in January, with overall winners having their names added to the boards at Clydebank Town Hall and invited to join the Provost at the King's annual garden party at Holyrood.
