West Dunbartonshire Council has been shortlisted for eight national housing awards, recognising the positive impact, developments and staff across a range of categories.

The nominations from the Scottish Housing Awards, recognises the creativity, passion and innovation of individuals, organisations and projects that have helped tenants, citizens, and communities throughout the year.

Among the nominations is an initiative to help identify tenants who need financial support, which has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Housing Innovation category.

Developed in-house by the Council, housing teams use data-driven analysis to help identify tenants who may be at risk of financial hardship at an early stage. This allows housing staff to offer proactive support, helping residents maximise their income, address financial challenges and sustain their tenancies.

The Council's is also nominated across the categories for its impressive range of new housing developments, including:

  • Willox Park for Excellence in Development for Affordable Housing, Excellence in Health and Wellbeing, and Excellence in Accessibility and Inclusion.
  • Braehead for Excellence in Regeneration and Sustainability. 
  • Mount Pleasant for Excellence in Accessibility and Inclusion. 
  • Linen Place and Lavender Gardens for Excellence in Net Zero in Housing.

In addition, homelessness and housing options caseworker Holly Woodrow has been nominated for Young Achiever in Housing, with the nomination highlighting her personal achievements and the positive impact she has had on colleagues, customers and service delivery.

Convenor of Housing, Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for eight national housing awards. These nominations reflect the dedication, professionalism and innovation of our housing teams and demonstrate the difference they make to communities across West Dunbartonshire every day.”

Vice-Convenor of Housing, Councillor Hazel Sorrell, said: “It is fantastic to see the team be recognised for projects across the area.  They should be extremely proud of this achievement and their continued commitment to providing quality homes that meet the needs of our residents.”

The award winners will be announced on 13 November 2026.
