Commences Thursday 18 September 2025

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A82 at Old Kilpatrick, between Dalnottar Interchange and the northbound Dumbarton Road junction, from Thursday 18th September until Friday 26th September 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. This is the first of two phases of work in this location, with details of Phase Two to follow. 

This work will require overnight road closures as follows: 

Thursday 18th September – Saturday 20th September

Overnight closures of the A82 northbound between Mountblow Road and the A82 northbound on-slip from the A898 Erskine Bridge, the A82 northbound on-slip to the A898 Erskine Bridge southbound and the A814 northbound on-slip. This traffic management will be removed by 6am on Saturday 20th September. 

  • Traffic for the northbound A82 will be diverted on to Mountblow Road and be directed to follow the A814 Dumbarton Road and Gavinburn Junction to re-join the northbound A82.
  • Traffic for the A898 southbound will follow the above diversion and continue to Dunglass Roundabout to return south on the A82. 

Saturday 20th September – Friday 26th September

Overnight closures of the A82 northbound between Mountblow Road and Bowling, the A82 northbound on-slip from the A898 Erskine Bridge and the A814 northbound on-slip. There will also be a single lane closure on the A898 northbound at Erskine. This traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 26th September. 

  • Traffic for the northbound A82 will be diverted at Mountblow Interchange and be directed to follow Mountblow Road, A82 Great Western Road, the A810 junction at Duntocher, Dumbarton Road, Glasgow Road and Duntocher Road. Traffic will then turn left on to Baljaffray Road and follow the A809 via Criagton Village and Croftamie to the A811 junction at Drymen Bridge to continue via Gartocharn and Balloch to re-join the A82 at Stoneymollan Roundabout.
  • A82 traffic over 4.57m from the Erskine Bridge for the A82 northbound will continue on the A898 to the A82 Great Western Road southbound and follow the above diversion. 
    •  Additional journey times for traffic using these diversion routes are expected to be approximately 27 minutes.
  • Local traffic will be diverted on to Mountblow Road and turn right at the traffic lights at the A814 Dumbarton Road and continue to the Gavinburn Junction to turn right and re-join the A82 northbound.
    • Additional journey times of around 6 minutes are expected for traffic taking this local diversion. 

Wednesday 24th September – Friday 26th September

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation overnight at the Bowling Junction between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 26th September 2025.  

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. 

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway surface in this location.
