As a foster carer, you will need to have a passion for helping children and young people to lead a safe, happy and healthy life.

To ensure our Foster Carers can provide the care required for the child or children in your care, we provide allowances to cover the cost for things such as food, clothing, transport, pocket money and other general day-today expenses.

Allowances are based on the age of the child and their individually assessed needs. Additional allowances are paid for things like birthday and holiday payments to ensure that you can enrich the lives of children.

In addition to this, Foster Carers also receive a fee in recognition of your commitment to helping enrich a child's life. The fee varies based on the number of children being fostered, and increases following your first year after registration.

On top of this, West Dunbartonshire Council also give Foster Carers 2 weeks paid respite per year.
