Artist's Talk - Hugh Gillan
Saturday 28 February ( 11:00 - 12:00 )
Clydebank Library , Glasgow Road Clydebank
We are delighted to welcome Clydebank artist Hugh Gillan to talk about what inspires him and how he creates his beautiful work.
Hugh’s work is primarily concerned with his surroundings: the city in which he lives and the places he visits. These are often liminal spaces populated with objects of modern technology such as pylons, cables, bridges and roads.
He often returns to Clydebank for inspiration. His work has explored the Erskine Bridge and the fleeting moments when weather can transform the structure. He also captures the world around him and produces tender portraits of his family.
Hugh grew up in Clydebank, attended Clydebank College, then went on to study Fine Art Painting at Glasgow School of Art. He has exhibited at the Scottish Landscape Awards, the Derwent Art Prize and the Royal Scottish Academy.
