Drypoint Etching Workshop: RSA 200
Saturday 7 March ( 10:00 - 12:00 )
Clydebank Library , Glasgow Road, Clydebank G81 1UE
Celebrate 200 years of Scottish art by learning the traditional craft of drypoint etching in this hands-on creative session.
Part of the RSA 200 bicentenary celebrations
In 2026, the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) celebrates its 200th anniversary with RSA 200: Celebrating Together. As part of this national partnership, West Dunbartonshire Council is hosting a special printmaking workshop. You will explore the historic art of etching using modern, safe materials to create your own unique prints.
What to expect
Historically, etching required the use of acid and beeswax. In this session, we use a more sustainable approach:
- Modern techniques: Create your design on Perspex plates using a sharp point, avoiding harmful chemicals.
- Professional finish: Use a small printing press to produce a completed etching by the end of the workshop.
- All-inclusive: We provide all the materials you need to take part.
About your tutor
The session is led by Maeve Dixon, West Dunbartonshire Council’s Arts Development Officer. A Printmaking graduate from the Glasgow School of Art, Maeve is an active printmaker who is passionate about making professional art techniques accessible to the local community.
