West Dunbartonshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, as amended, have made the above named Order by reason of avoiding danger, facilitating traffic movement and improving amenity for the Kiltwalk Event on Sunday 28th April 2024.

Road Closure

The Order will make it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the following sections of road (except for vehicles taking local access where permitted by signs or under the direction of a traffic management contractor, emergency service vehicles and vehicles engaged in authorised road occupation) only when and where indicated by signs:

Balloch Road, Balloch, between Carrochan Road and Tullichewan Road.

Waiting & Loading Restrictions

The Order may also make it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load only when and where indicated by signs on both sides of the complete lengths of road in Balloch: Balloch Road and Tullichewan Road.

One Way (if required): The Order may also introduce temporary one way operation of Tullichewan Road, Balloch from Balloch Road to Lomond Road only.

The restrictions may be applied in part or whole but will be able to be implemented as required and where indicated by signs between 0600 hours and 2359 hours on 28th April 2024.
Emergency Services should note that access past the event may not always be possible or at least delayed. Access will be maintained at all times for pedestrians. Vehicular access to off road property will be maximised where possible from one or either side of closure. Moss O Balloch car park will be closed by its operator except for those permitted by the event organiser. Bus routes will be diverted as indicated on affected bus stops.

Further Details and Diversion Routes

These restrictions are to allow a vehicle traffic free area at the end of the proposed Kiltwalk march, maintain traffic movement and facilitate related entertainment facilities within Moss O Balloch area as in previous years. Details of the event are available from the Kiltwalk Event organisers. Other works being undertaken in this area both preceding and following this restriction are be subject to separate arrangements and will be suspended during this order.

The extent and times of the restrictions will be kept to an absolute minimum and all the available restrictions may not be applied. The waiting and loading restrictions will only be applied if and as necessary (in addition to any existing restrictions) to maintain traffic flow or access.

Diversion Routes

Diversion routes will involve the following roads in both directions and as indicated by signs:

Balloch Road, Tullichewan Road, Dalvait Road, Carrochan Road, Luss Road and Lomond Road.
