A food business which produces over 5kg of food waste per week must now present it for separate collection.

In addition to this, it will be illegal for business premises to use macerators or food disposal units where there is a food collection service in place.

West Dunbartonshire Council currently provide dedicated food waste collections to schools and other food producing Council buildings and tenemental properties within the area. If your business falls into the new category for food being collected separately then West Dunbartonshire Council will be able to provide this service.

We can offer 240ltr and 500ltr wheeled bins for collection.

We can collect any cooked or uncooked food waste including:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Meat and fish (including bones)
  • Egg shells
  • Bread, cakes and pastries
  • Beans, pasta and rice
  • Leftover sandwiches and chips
  • Dairy products like cheese
  • Tea bags and coffee grounds
  • Ham, tomatoes or salad
  • Any other cooked or uncooked food

Please note, we cannot accept any oils or liquids or food packaging
