The upgrade of Dumbarton’s East End Park football pitch is now complete and ready for use.

The facility has undergone a relaying of its synthetic surface thanks to investment from both the Council and the UK Government.

The East End Park project was one of 40 in Scotland to receive a share of £6million for grassroots sporting facilities from the UK Government last year. It was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

In addition to the relaying of the surface, new goalposts are in situ and there is upgraded CCTV and floodlighting at the site.

Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor David McBride said: “This project reinforces the commitment by West Dunbartonshire Council to improve sporting facilities for our communities.

“East End Park is a well-used facility and this upgrade will ensure our residents have access to a first-class resource close to home.”

Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor Lawrence O’Neill added: “This is great news for the people of Dumbarton and beyond.

“I am delighted that this project has now been completed which will help ensure this facility can continue to serve the community for years to come.”
