Celebrations as Scottish Pipe Band Champions announced at Levengrove Park

Thousands of spectators enjoyed a showcase of traditional music in Dumbarton this weekend as the Scottish Pipe Band Championships rolled into town.
The event hosted more 130 pipe bands from all over Scotland, the United Kingdom and across the world, each competing to be crowned champions.
After a day of intense competition at Levengrove Park, there were celebrations for Inverary and District, who were named as the overall winners.
The band were presented with the winners' trophy by Chieftain of the event, West Dunbartonshire's Provost Karen Murray Conaghan.
Provost Murray Conaghan said: “The Scottish Pipe Band Championships is always a highlight of the annual calendar, bringing together some of the finest pipe bands and musicians from across Scotland and around the world in a fantastic celebration of Scottish culture and tradition.
“Alongside the outstanding performances, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of local food and craft stalls, as well as the funfair, creating a great atmosphere for all ages.
“I’m proud to host this event in partnership with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, and I’m delighted that this year’s championships have once again proved to be a successful and enjoyable day out for families, competitors and spectators alike.”
Colin Mulhern, Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, said: “This year’s Scottish Championships once again showcased the exceptional talent and dedication found throughout the pipe band community, with an outstanding standard of competition across all grades.
“It is a testament to the prestige of this event that bands travel from around the world to compete alongside some of the finest pipe bands in the United Kingdom. The championships always create a fantastic atmosphere and a memorable experience for competitors and spectators alike.
“My congratulations go to all of the winners, and to every band and performer who took part. Their commitment and passion helped make this year’s event another tremendous success.”
