Riverside School Celebrates Triple Award Achievement
Published 03 July 2026
Pupils at Riverside School are celebrating after scooping three national awards.
The school, which only opened August last year, was awarded a Bronze School Sport Award, Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, and UNCRC Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award, reflecting its commitment to health and wellbeing, sustainability and children’s rights.
Central to this success is Riverside’s pupil-led Wellbeing and Sustainability Committee, which brings together key priorities including sport, sustainability and children’s rights, enabling pupils to play an active role in shaping school life.
Convenor of Education, Councillor Michelle McGinty, said: “This is a remarkable achievement and well-deserved recognition for everyone at Riverside. The school has made an impressive start in its first year, and these awards—as well as the positive feedback from the school community—are a testament to how well the children have settled in their new environment and how committed everyone is to the wellbeing of pupils. It was great to visit the school and hear from the young people how proud they are of this achievement.”
Vice-Convenor of Education, Councillor John Miller, said: “The school has really made its mark in the first year and I would like to congratulate all the staff, parents and pupils for the dedication and effort they have put in. These awards highlight the hard work by pupils and our dedicated teachers and support staff who have all played their part in achieving three national awards. I am delighted the schools has been recognised and I look forward to seeing the school continue to thrive in the future.”
