Thrive at Five
Educational Services has partnered with UK charity, Thrive at Five to offer additional support to help families from pregnancy to primary school.
A first for Scotland, the new programme will work alongside Family Hubs, Early Learning and Childcare Centres and primary schools to support a reduction in the number of children starting school with developmental concerns.
The three-year partnership will bring together services supporting children and families in the early years and parents and carers to enhance relationships and parental wellbeing; improve the quality of the home learning environment; develop early language and communication, and enhance the quality of early education and childcare.
The initiative has been launched following figures showing by the time children aged 4 or 5 start primary school in West Dunbartonshire, over a quarter (27%) are reported as having at least one developmental concern compared to the Scottish average of 19 per cent.
The partnership investment will ensure families have the knowledge, confidence and help at the right time and place, when they need it with the services available initially for up to 2500 children to help them develop strong foundations for life and learning as well as achieving long-term sustained improvements in their development.
