It is widely recognised that holiday periods add to the stress of poverty for some families and results in less access to food and social activity for them than their peers. SHINE (School Holidays Involve Nurture & Engage) works with local organisations and groups to increase provision of free social activities for school children over holiday periods including breakfast and lunch clubs.
West Dunbartonshire Council is inviting local organisations to apply for EASTER SHINE funding to provide free holiday activities during the school Easter school holidays:
SHINE grants of up to £2,000 are available to not-for-profit constituted groups, providing free activities to children /young people and families in West Dunbartonshire. These could include arts, sports, games, play, breakfast/lunch clubs. Activities and meals funded by this grant must be provided to children/families free of charge.
