Max McArthur – Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Clark Contracts, Scotland West
Max McArthur initially accepted a university place to study Quantity Surveying. After gaining work experience with ScottishPower, he realised a hands-on approach would better suit his career goals. He applied for a Trainee Quantity Surveying role at Clark Contracts to gain practical experience while studying.
Max joined the Construction division in Paisley as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor last month. His role combines on-site experience with academic learning. In year two, he will work four days a week on construction sites, collaborating with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers. One day a week will be dedicated to studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying. This approach integrates theory with real-world application.
Max’s apprenticeship gives him hands-on construction experience while pursuing formal education. It provides a solid foundation for a successful career in Quantity Surveying.
Everyone at St Peter the Apostle High School is proud of Max’s achievements. His commitment to combining academic learning with practical experience reflects the values of ambition, responsibility, and continuous improvement. We wish him all the best in this exciting new chapter.
