Max McArthur 6C
Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Clark Contracts, Scotland West
Max McArthur initially accepted a place at university to pursue a Quantity Surveying undergraduate course. However, after gaining work experience with ScottishPower, he realised that a more hands-on approach would better suit his career aspirations. Determined to gain practical experience while studying, Max applied for a Trainee Quantity Surveying role at Clark Contracts.
Max joined the Construction division in Paisley as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor last month. His role offers a structured pathway that combines practical on-site experience with academic learning. In year two of the trainee programme Max will work four days a week on construction sites, collaborating closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers to manage costs and contracts across various projects. One day each week will be dedicated to studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world application.
This approach gives Max hands-on experience in the construction industry while pursuing formal education, setting a solid foundation for a successful career in Quantity Surveying.
Everyone at St Peter the Apostle High School is incredibly proud of Max's achievements and the dedication he has shown in pursuing his career goals. His commitment to combining academic learning with practical experience reflects the values of ambition, responsibility, and continuous improvement that our school strives to instil in all our students. We wish Max all the best as he starts this exciting new chapter in his professional journey.
