Kory is leaving Vale of Leven Academy to start a Modern Apprenticeship with DXC Technology in Erskine.

Kory has been a wonderful asset to the school community with his enquiring mind often going beyond the necessary to satisfy his curiosity. He developed a passion for the field of ICT with a particular interest in ‘coding’ and the use of technology in improving work systems and enhancing performance. A work experience placement with West Dunbartonshire Council ICT department provided Kory with an insight into many areas of the ICT business, further confirming that this was the right path for him.

Kory’s Higher Computing Science Teacher said: ‘I have seen Kory grow into a capable and persevering learner. A setback in his studies last year helped him to learn how to prioritise work and the need for consistent effort to achieve what he wants. He has grown in wisdom and maturity and has shown that he knows how to apply himself.’

A big breakthrough came for Kory when he accepted an offer from the school’s DYW/Senior Phase Team to attend the DXC Apprenticeship event in March. Kory was extremely impressed with the Modern Apprenticeship programme which then led to apply for an Apprentiship.

Kory is a wonderful example of hard work and resilience leads to achieve success. We wish him well with his apprenticeship with DXC.
