Archie has achieved exceptional academic success throughout his school career and as such received several university offers for his chosen field of Medicine, settling on Aberdeen University.

As one of our Depute Head boys, Archie naturally helped others both in school and in sport, such is his leadership style. Archie is always ready to face new challenges with optimism and resilience, he approaches the future with the same determination and positivity that have defined his school years.

Medicine is very difficult to achieve a place at university even with 5 A Highers under his belt, but Archie was meticulous in his planning, researching the university courses that matched his skill set as well as gaining excellent work experience opportunities at the Golden Jubilee hospital in a variety of fields. There is no doubt he will continue to thrive and make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.

Not only does Archie excel academically he is also a dedicated follower of Muay Thai. He competes at a very high level and is a Muay Thai Scottish Champion. Archie shares his expertise by helping other as he coaches at his club, sharing his skills and inspiring younger students in their boxing and lifestyle. Archie’s ability to balance high-level sport with outstanding academic achievement is truly impressive and speaks volumes about his character and determination.

Luke Napier

Our Lady and Saint Patrick’s High School pupil, Luke Napier has secured a highly sought-after Graduate Apprenticeship in Software Engineering with global financial services firm J.P. Morgan while studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Software Development at University of Strathclyde.

Luke has demonstrated exceptional dedication to computing and problem-solving throughout his school career. In S5 Luke achieved five Highers and was awarded the School's top award for Computing Science, with further studies in Advanced Higher Physics and Higher Chemistry in S6. Luke has had a passion for coding from a young age and securing one of these sought-after roles with J.P. Morgan was the goal he was striving for. The apprenticeship is a four-year programme that allows students to “earn while they learn”, combining paid employment with university study.

The programme offers a unique blend of hands-on industry experience, structured academic learning, and mentoring from experienced professionals. Apprentices take on real responsibilities within teams, developing practical coding and problem-solving skills while contributing to live projects. This approach enables them to graduate not only with a degree, but also with several years of valuable work experience - giving them a significant advantage when starting their careers.

For Luke, this opportunity represents the ideal pathway into the tech industry. The Graduate Apprenticeship will allow Luke to gain hands-on industry experience while studying for a degree. He hopes the opportunity will help him grow into a well-rounded software engineer who can use their skills to contribute to innovative real-world projects.
